Environmental Microbial Passive Samplers

Sampling microbial communities in a representative manner in environments not easily accessible or subject to strong fluctuations.

A sampling adapted…

Accurate characterization and understanding of microbial communities is strongly dependent on the ability to provide a representative sample of the environment studied. Environmental Microbial Passive Samplers (EMPs) developed by ENOVEO are designed to improve the representativity of the sampled microbial communities habitats that are difficult to access (saturated zones, aquifers…) or potentially subject to significant fluctuations (surface water, processes, urban and industrial effluents).

EMPs integrate microbial community sampling over time, reduce the variability inherent to active sampling approaches and reduce the time and costs of on-site interventions.

…for reliable microbiological analyses

The microbial samplers developed by ENOVEO represent sampled microorganisms better and, therefore, important microbial mechanisms in the environment studied. After on-site deployment, samplers are collected and micro-organisms analyzed using molecular biology tools in order to identify and/or quantify microorganisms and genes of interest.

The EMPs can be deployed, for example, to characterize the microbial activity on a given site, to determine the occurrence and diversity of microorganisms or functions of interest, to evaluate on-site biodegradation, to assess biodegradation potential and to evaluate the efficiency of a treatment or process.
